The Girl Called Books

“Every time she graces the stage, we are blessed by her. Words can’t describe how she beguiles audiences with her voice. Her music is truly magical.”

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, The Girl Called Books, endears audiences locally and abroad as only she can—with her unique brand of soul. Infused with blues, jazz, and her gospel roots, Books is the soulful salve for her listeners. The Girl Called Books is bold in her lyrical honesty, yet sweet in her musical delivery, gliding her soprano voice effortlessly between her powerful belt and chilling falsetto atop a musical landscape all her own. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Books’ early influences were far-reaching and included classical, gospel, and contemporary artists. From her time spent as a church accompanist to her participation in various chamber ensembles, The Girl Called Books has been developing her musicality and style since childhood. And from the first note you can feel the raw emotion of her experiences exuded with the grace and sophistication of the greats before her. Ever curious, Books continues to grow her sonic palette, and takes her listeners along on an impactful journey with each new release and latest performance. Her upcoming EP, The Soul Scholar: vol. 1, is expected winter 2021. Until then, you can catch a Books show at Blacktoberfest on October 30, 2021.
